I bought this lovely kit from Cool Crafting. The detail in the design is incredible - every seam has been edge stitched at 2mm and all the raw edges are finished with bias binding. Her coat even has teeny little pockets, which can't quite be seen on the photograph! Luna herself is mainly hand sewn, but her clothes have been done on the sewing machine. I thoroughly enjoyed making her and am intending to make her brother soon, who comes complete with jeans, checked shirt and waistcoat!

Crocheted Owl Bag
I love owls, so couldn't resist this pattern from Martina Luzova, on Etsy. I've used Scheepjeswol Cotton 8 to crochet him and added a floral lining. Apologies for the shadowy photos.

My reason for learning to sew
Year after year, I have seen the most beautiful bags, hanging up on the Button Angel stall, at craft shows. And time after time, I have asked whether I could buy one, ready made, only to be told "no, they are a kit!" They contain lots of embroidery, patchwork and appliqué and as a non sewer, I didn't think I would ever have one. Anyway, after learning to sew I took the plunge and bought the kit that had the least embroidery and appliqué on and decided to give it a go. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. (The front is the same as the back)

Tippling Toad
I bought this kit from the House of Zandra, during my recent visit to the craft show at Event City. I suspect it's something stronger than tea in his cup, judging by the expression on his face lol!

I made this......
cute little elephant from a book called 'Edward's Managerie' by Kerry Lord. She only took a few days to crochet.

Four Months Later......
and I've finally finished the Sophie's Universe Crochet Along. It was a huge learning curve, as nearly every one of the 113 rounds was different, but I learnt so much along the way! I used the same colours as Dedri, the designer, used in hers - too much learning new stitches to do, without having to think about colour choices too!

Craftsy Class
I finally decided to try one of the Craftsy classes I've been hoarding. I used fabric I bought at the Harrogate Quilt show on Saturday - don't think I've ever used something so quickly! The pouch has been quilted and is lined in the same fabric as the handles.

Sewing Case
This sewing case is my new favourite 'make' so far! I used a pattern by Hummingbird Designs and bought the fabric kit to go with it. The outer panel has been quilted with a diamond design and the inside contains several pockets for all my sewing bits and pieces. I wasn't going to bother with the ruffled pocket, as it looked a bit tricky, but I'm glad I did, as the effort was worth it. The hardest part was trying to get it through the sewing machine to sew the binding on, as the case is stiffened with pelmet plastic.

Hand Sewn Panel Bag
This bag was made from a panel, which was created by sewing two sided strips of contrasting fabric onto the background fabric and then pinching and sewing the strips together at regular intervals to create the diamond effect. Time consuming, but I think the finished effect was worth it. Quite hard to see the dimension on the photo though. The gusset and back is quilted and the bag is lined using the flowery background fabric.

It's Been a While....
but I'm in the process of making a very time consuming quilt and also crocheting a blanket - so watch this space. In the meantime I thought I'd post a couple of the smaller projects I've been doing.
I love the owl fabric I used for the bag, so I decided to make my Mum a Kindle case in the same fabric. I also made myself a case using the Scottie dog fabric.
I'm so laden down with stuff when I go to my quilting class, that I don't take my handbag, but I needed something to hold my phone and a credit card.... so I made the little wallet out of the Paris fabric.

Crocheted Westie
I can't believe that I've just spent the past 4 hours grooming a crocheted Westie - but I have lol! He was made using 100s of loop stitches, which were cut apart and then trimmed to hopefully resemble a Westie. He was from a pattern by Christine Lucas, which I found on Ravelry.

And Today's Bag is.......
very bright and spotty! This was from a kit I bought from 'Sew Me Something' when I was in Stratford Upon Avon recently. It's made from a lovely 'canvassy' fabric and was the pattern was easy to follow, although I found it quite tricky to sew the oval base to the rectangular sides!

Another Bag
I love sewing related fabric, so when I saw this I had to have it! It has taken me most of the day to make, but hopefully I'll get a bit quicker as I gain sewing experience.

Henrietta Happypotamus
I found the crochet pattern for this hippo, designed by Heidi Bears on Ravelry and just fell in love with it. It consists of lots of African Flower pentagons, hexagons, heptagons and octagons all joined together. I wasn't sure if I was up to the challenge, but thought I'd give it a go and several months later here she is......
