Sketch Saturday - 65

I haven't done a card challenge for a while, but inspired by my friend Paul, I have decided to start using up some of my paper/card scraps. The sketch was from Sketch Saturday and I have used October afternoon PPs, Bazzill, a Petaloo flower, Martha Stewart border punch and SU sentiment and oval punches. The image is from Sugar Nellie and it has been coloured with Copics.

SLYMI - Week 35

Photos from the bank holiday is this week's theme, so I decided that as we weren't doing anything special this year, I would use photos from last August bank holiday, when we were in Florida. I have used Basic Grey 'June Bug' papers and a Thickers alphabet.

SLYMI - Week 34

Fab sketch challenge this week. I have used Basic Grey 'Porcelain' papers and embellishments and a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. The journalling reads: Natalie and Lauren wanted to take me out to celebrate my 44th birthday, but unfortunately Lauren was ill and couldn't come. I kept teasing Natalie about the huge handbag she had brought with her and joked that she looked like she was going away for a week, rather than out for a meal! All became clear at the end of the meal, when the waitress appeared singing Happy Birthday, whilst carrying a lovely chocolate cake, which Natalie had hidden in her bag. It was a lovely surprise made even more special by the fact that it had been Natalie's idea - Cinn Oriental 26 June 2009.

Art From the Heart Workshop

I did a workshop at Art From the Heart today, in which Dyan showed us some ways to use the Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints. I might finally pluck up the courage to take the seal off mine now LOL! This tag was my favourite 'make' from today. We used the paints to make the background, added some Tim Holtz stamps and then used Blonde Moment stamps for the outfit and some grungboard for the wings and hat. (The cute face belongs to Lauren)

Sunday's Creations

I managed to complete two LOs and a card at the Warrington Crop on Sunday. I usually spend most of the time chatting, shopping or paper shuffling - so I am feeling quite proud of myself! The 'Monkey Swing' LO was designed by Lianne - I only added a title and changed the number of photos, so can't take any credit for the design. The 'Bloom' LO was inspired by one on the Crafty Stash Blog - I used the same papers and row of buttons, but changed the design of the LO. The card was made using SU papers, scallop punch and sentiment stamp, a Magnolia stamp which was coloured using Copics and a Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

SLYMI - Week 32

We had to use white journalling for this week's challenge. I have used Prima 'Signs of Spring' paper, Bazzill cardstock, Thickers alphabet and my PC for the journalling. The journalling reads: Dad has completed the John O'Groats to Lands End journey several times over the years. He has walked it, run it, and ridden it on his racing bike, so this year he decided that he need a different challenge.... He came up with the idea of attempting the journey on a postman's bike. The lack of gears and the extra weight would give him the extra challenge that he needed. He set off on July 5th and finished 14 days later on July 19th 2009. He has raised thousands of pounds for charity and even managed to deliver a few parcels along the way - not bad for a 68 year old!

Mojo Monday 98

Another lovely sketch from Mojo Monday this week. I have used SU papers, card, ink and ribbon and Hero Arts 'Flower Wood Background' stamp and an Inkadinkado sentiment stamp. The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.

Just Because

Got an extra day off work this week, so thought I'd make a card for a friend's birthday. It's not for any of the challenges, just fancied making a nice straightforward card. I have used SU card, PP and ink, Hero Arts stamps, a Fiskars punch and a bit of bling for good measure!
Hubby has been in San Francisco for the past week and is due home in a couple of hours. He's so good to me - on his only day off, he got a taxi to the nearest Michaels and then rang me to see what I would like. He walked up and down the aisles trying to describe the various stamp sets to me - I'm really looking forward to seeing what he picked. He's also got me the special edition of Breaking Dawn from the Twilight series - you get a DVD and poster and a few other extra bits. Lauren is already trying to weedle the poster off me LOL!
